Clinical Supervision

I still recall my experience as a newly credentialed counselor. The only word to describe it is nerve-wracking. I had all of my schooling and tools but still felt unprepared. What I now know is there is a science AND an art to this role and it takes time to hone our craft. I was lucky to have a supervisor who understood the nuance of this work and challenged me to grow. We all need help working out the kinks, confronting blindspots, and evolving into our embodied professional selves.

How I Supervise. I operate from a Developmental Model of Supervision, assessing and assisting supervisees through their integration process. My role will shift from teacher to counselor to consultant depending on your needs. There will be times, especially early on, when instruction is most needed. I might offer an intervention to try. As time goes on, we’ll introduce here-and-now work to understand how parallel processes are happening in the room. What are you bringing into a session that may be clouding your judgment? Integration of personal and professional selves is the ultimate measure of supervision success. In other words, I subscribe to the notion that a clinical supervisor “must embrace not only the domain of psychological science but also the domains of client service and trainee development. The competent supervisor must not only comprehend how these various knowledge bases are connected but also apply them to the individual case” (Holloway & Wolleat, 1994, p. 30).

Are we a fit? I am committed to showing up and ask my supervisees to do the same. Our mutual agreement to accountability and doing the “good work” is paramount to a successful supervision experience. I am the best fit for anyone working with high-functioning adults and operating from a humanistic, attachment-informed, IFS lens. I have some experience with ACT concepts as well.

Fees and Scheduling. I meet with supervisees both one-on-one and in a group. We will have one individual meeting per month. This gives us time to consult and check in on professional development goals. The cost is $90 per individual meeting and $70 per group. I can meet both in-person and virtually. (Note: If a group is not formed, we will meet individually).
